Renewable Energy and Environmental Policy

Renewable Energy and Environmental policy

Our commitment to Renewable Energy has led us to participate in several wind farms and to have some of our own.

Large investments

Our commitment to Renewable Energy has led us to participate in several wind farms and to have some of our own.

Jealsa Corporation has contributed significant investments to minimize the impact of our activity on the environment.

Energy

Wind power is a clean and inexhaustible source of energy, which uses the wind to generate electricity. In addition, it increases a country’s energy self-sufficiency, or what is the same, reduces its energy dependence on others (mainly petroleum, coal and natural gas).

Jealsa participates in the exploitation of Wind Farms that add an installed capacity of 190 MW. The electricity generated every year by these facilities amounts to 426 GWh and is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 122,000 households.

This production is the equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 122,000 households.

Also, these facilities prevent the emission of 408,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent to the annual consumption of 140,000 cars.

Water management is another key aspect in our production process and our industry is constantly adapting to reduce or reuse water. To this end, we have created closed cooling systems and other methods to give water other uses before the final treatment. This counts for a daily saving of approximately 2,100 m3, which is equivalent to the daily water consumption of a population of 15,900.

Environment

Jealsa Rianxeira has implemented an Environmental Management System which is certified under ISO 14001:2015 Standard, creating an effective tool for the Preservation of the Environment and the continuous Improvement of the activity.

Jealsa Rianxeira has established the following principles:

Comply with the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) Directive, which is why we have an Integrated Environmental Authorization (IEA).

Monitor Emissions to work on their reduction and fight against Climate Change.

Promote Environment Protection and Pollution Prevention, by always making a sustainable use of resources.

Preserve the Biodiversity of protected areas.
